Our duty to worship God stems from the fact that he is the creator, making all other beings indebted to him through his creative power. All the gods of the nations are idols; but the Lord made the heaven and the earth. Psalm 96:5. To whom then will you liken God or to whom shall he be equal?Isaiah 40:25-26; 45:18.
The creator God
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." Genesis 1:1; "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled...." 1John 1:1,2. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. The scripture tells us that God was the Creator of the heavens and the earth. it reminds us that He was here before the world was created." (Genesis 1:31-2:22).
He cause the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man. He covers himself with light, as with a garment; who stretched out the heavens like a curtain and lays the beams of his chambers in the waters; who makes the clouds his chariot; and walks upon the the wings of the wind. He laid the foundations of the earth that it may not be removed forever. He makes darkness and it is night. The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from Him. It is he who waters the hills from his chambers, the earth is satisfied with the fruits of his works. Psalm 104
The God of Love
"We love because God first loved us." 1 John 4:19. "Love the Lord, all his faithful people. The Lord protects the faithful, Psalm 31:23 For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life. John 3:16. Remember how the Lord your God has blessed you in everything that you have done. He has taken care of you as you wandered through this vast desert. He has been with you these forty years, and you have had everything you needed." Deuteronomy 2:7.
We can see how, century by century, God,through his words show his love for all, even in the various circumstances of our lives, thus revealing his essential nature. Hosea, Moses, David and all these great giants of the Bible they learned who God was. Does love of nature, woods, clouds, streams, and mountains help us to understand God? Does the love of parents, brothers, sisters, and friends help us to understand the love of God?
It is God who, "forgives our iniquities, who heals all our diseases, who redeem our life from destruction; and crown us with loving kindness and tender mercies. He it that satisfies our mouth with good things. He execute judgements and righteousness for all that are oppressed. The Lord is merciful, and gracious, slow to anger and plenteous in mercy. As the heavens is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pity his children, so the Lord pity those who fear him. He knows our frame; he remember that we are dust. He has prepared his throne in heaven; and his kingdom rules over all." Psalm 103.
Knowing God
As Moses seek to know God he asked God to show him what his glory was. Exodus 34:6-9. "The Lord then passed in front of him and called out, I, the Lord, am a God who is full of compassion and pity, who is not easily angered and who shows great love and faithfulness. I keep my promise for thousands of generations and forgive evil and sin; but I will not fail to punish children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generation for the sins of their parents. Moses quickly bowed down to the ground and worshiped."
God the jealous God
"Be holy, because I, the Lord your God, am holy. Each of you must respect your mother and your father, and must keep the Sabbath, as I have commanded. I am the Lord your God.
Do not abandon me and worship idols; do not make gods of metal and worship them. I am the Lord your God." Leviticus 19:1-4
"Do not worship any other god, because I, the Lord, tolerate no rivals. Do not make any treaties with the people of the country, because when they worship their pagan gods and sacrifice to them, they will invite you to join them, and you will be tempted to eat the food they offer to their gods. Your sons might marry those foreign women, who would lead them to be unfaithful to me and to worship their pagan gods." Exodus 34:14-17
God reveals himself
"The Lord has shown you this, to prove to you that he alone is God and that there is no other. He let you hear his voice from heaven so that he could instruct you; and here on earth he let you see his holy fire, and he spoke to you from it. Because he loved your ancestors, he chose you, and by his great power he himself brought you out of Egypt."Deuteronomy 4:35-37. As God reveals himself to us each passing day may we trust him and allow him to fill us with wisdom to better comprehend his awesome goodness towards us.

Search for him
"There you will look for the Lord your God, and if you search for him with all your heart, you will find him. When you are in trouble and all those things happen to you, then you will finally turn to the Lord and obey him. He is a merciful God. He will not abandon you or destroy you, and he will not forget the covenant that he himself made with your ancestors. Search the past, the time before you were born, all the way back to the time when God created human beings on the earth. Search the entire earth. Has anything as great as this ever happened before? Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?" Deuteronomy 4:29-32.God reveals himself
