Jesus is compared to a precious pearl. The pearl of great price, the parable of the merchantman seeking goodly pearls "who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it." Christ Himself is the pearl of great price. In Him is gathered all the glory of the Father, the fullness of the Godhead.
He is the brightness of the Father's glory and the express image of His person. God's glory is expressed in His character. In Him all the treasures of divine wisdom comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God and all the riches of spiritual knowledge and enlightenment are stored up and lie hidden.
But it is from Him that you have your life in Christ Jesus, Whom God made our wisdom; (revealed to us a knowledge of the divine plan of salvation previouslu hidden, manifesting itself as)
our Righteousness [thus making us upright and putting us in right standing with God], and our Consecration [making us pure and holy], and our Redemption providing our ransom from eternal penalty for sin. God
became man, and as the book of john reminds us He came to that which belonged to Him [to His own—His domain, creation, things, world], and they who were His own did not receive Him and did not welcome Him. Thank God the parable represents a class of people who sincerely desired truth. In different nations earnest and thoughtful men could be found who having sought for this treasure when they found him received him in their hearts. In the parable the pearl is not represented as a gift. We are told they bought it at the price of all that he had. What does this mean? We are to give ourselves totally to Christ, living a life of obedience to him. Recognizing that all that we are, or possess, belong to him. Thus when we surrender all to him, Christ, with all the treasures of heaven, gives himself to us. Thereby we obtain the pearl of great price.
The precious pearl is represented as being bought without money and without price. The gift of Salvation, all may receive this wonderful gift of heaven. The precious truth of Christ and his kingdom was declared to all by God's dear son Jesus, he it is who came from heaven and revealed its treasury of truth to us.. "Behold, I have set before thee an open door," the Lord declares, "and no man can shut it." call to mind the lessons you received and heard; continually lay them to heart and obey them, and repent. Therefore I counsel you to purchase from Me gold refined and tested by fire, that you may be [truly] wealthy.
Today you too receive the pearl of great price, all you have to do is accept Christ into your heart, let him be your guide, and love him with all your heart, mind, body and soul and let his truth be forever in your heart as you live for him daily.
