The City

a city
“The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendour into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honour of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life. Revelation 21:23-27

Here the Bible speaks of a city, a city where everything goes right because the Lord is its ruler. This passage is my all time dose for disappointment and my only remedy for future reference to the glorious life. As we look around us, there seems to be no end to crime, broken homes, dreams and lack of trust. Many today have lost hope in mankind. They are afraid to allow themselves to make friends with anyone.

This City will be the centre of the new world, there we will worship our creator and sing praises unto Him who has redeemed us. Many continue to say that religion is a panacea. Christ calls the rich and the poor; whosoever will may come. Therefore none is excluded from that beautiful city. Happy are those who dare to exercise their faith by believing the word of God and dare to dream of  that city for they shall inherit it. While some linger in scepticism and while others sit in limbo, wondering whether they should believe or not, the Good Shepherd continues to make preparation for those who will accept the invitation.

We live in a world where it has become difficult, to enter into a transaction, without worrying if your pin code or bank cards are safe; or without someone trying to relieve you of your money through some kind of scam. The thought of the pure being the citizen there does leave one sceptical when those who are supposed to be the pure cannot be trusted and when many members of the clergy  are constantly accused of  sexual immorality.

Whatever the condition of our world, we must realize we cannot change our world but we can change our attitude, as we allow the Lord to lead our lives. “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.” 1 John 1:8-10

Finally my friend, you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth. I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it and because no lie comes from the truth” 1 John 2:20-21
