The Lord has
sent His people much instruction, line upon line, precept upon precept, here a
little, and there a little. Little heed is given to the Bible; the Lord has
spoken to us through his words which is designed to lead men and women to the truth.
As a teacher
the Bible is a powerful tool in the hands of those who will read it and allow
God to teach them his truths. It is of more value than the writings of all the
philosophers of all ages.
God’s truth has
been revealed to all it shines undimmed. Nothing more can be so planned to uplift
the mind and strengthen the intellect than the study of the Word of God.
All
scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God
may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3:15-17)
"Search the
scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which
testify of me." John 5:39.
"For I testify
unto every man that hear the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man
shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are
written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book
of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out
of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."(Revelation
22:18, 19)
It is the
will of God to reveal truth to all who wants truth; and he has, the birth of
Christ should not have been a surprise to the world yet it was. The Bible gave
us many promises concerning his first advent. A close look at these will show
why the Bible can be trusted.
Does not Scripture say that the Messiah
will come from David's descendants and from Bethlehem, the town where David
lived?" (John 7:42).
"But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over
Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times." (Micah
5:2)
Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea,
during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern
lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking. “But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among
the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my
people Israel.” (Matthew 2:1-6)
"The sceptre will not depart from Judah,
nor the ruler's staff from his descendants, until the coming of the one to whom
it belongs, the one whom all nations will honour." (Genesis 49:10)
“Seventy weeks are decreed for your people and your holy
city to finish transgression, to
put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting
righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place. Know and understand
this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until
the Anointed One, the ruler, comes,
there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks. It will be rebuilt with streets
and a trench, but in times of trouble."
(Daniel 9:24-25)
For to us a child is
born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he
will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of
Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace. There will be no end. He
will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding
it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of
the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. (Isaiah
9:6-7)
"Say
to Daughter Zion, 'See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey,
and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” (Matthew 21:5)
My friends in searching
the Scriptures believe it because it is the voice of God speaking to you. We
may be confused sometimes over the voice of your friends; but with the Bible you have the counsel of God upon all important subjects. The Bible can be trusted.
