None is free from depression; however the Word of God gives us hope and encourages, motivates, and keeps us on the road to happiness and a contented life. The Word of God holds the secret of happiness and only as we allow it to take hold of our lives will we be able to overcome the evil one. Even Christ himself recognises the power of the Word when he said, "Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Jesus always uses the Word to overcome the enemy and we are admonished to do the same if we are going to lead a happy life. 

Here are some secrets to avoid depression:

Rest your Hope in Him

Psalm 25:3 reminds us that "No one who hopes in God will ever be put to shame. In order to enjoy the abundant life promise to us by God we have to learn to trust him, to do so we must worship him and lift up our souls to him. None who, believes, wait on God, or by a believing hope, wait for him, shall be ashamed. If we sincerely desire to know our duty, with resolution to do it, we may be sure that God will direct us in it.  When God pardons us he does so completely. It is God's goodness, and not ours, his mercy, and not our merit. When we realize how boundless that mercy is, it gives us hope!

His Word gives life

Psalm 119:16, I will delight in your statues that I may live. Our greatest harm comes from living by no rule at all, or choosing false rules: when you walk by the rules of the Word of God you begin to live the abundant life. To doubt of our own wisdom and strength, and to depend upon God, is the beginning of wisdom. God's word is treasure worth laying up, and there is no laying it up safe but in our hearts. Those whose hearts are fed with the bread of life, will be protected from depression and anxiety. 

God will sustain you

Psalm 119:116 reminds us that He will sustain you, according to his promise; He will not disappoint you. Seeing that God does not disappoint why are you anxious? God's word directs us in our work and in our way. He provides His Word to be a light for you, so you will not stumble. As a light to direct us in the choice of our way, and the steps we take in that way. To have our soul or life continually in our hands implies constant danger of life; but in God's we need have no fear. Numberless are the snares laid by the wicked; and happy is that man, whom they have not caused to err from God's precepts. Heavenly treasures awaits all, therefore be content with little of this world. Look for comfort only in the way of God's will.

Prayer and Praise strengthens hope

The more we pray and praise God, the more watchful we shall be, lest vain thoughts draw us away from whom we love. Doing God's will, separating yourself from evil doers will help to strengthen your resolve to walk with God. Your security is grounded on God's support. To depart from the way of life, will only prove fatal. So start praising Him, praying always, and watch the difference it will make in your life. It worked for me and surely it will work for you, God is faithful; He will never promise anything that He cannot deliver.
